Planning the perfect day out with the children
From toddlers to teens, this sample itinerary of the perfect fun filled day in Barbados will ensure that the whole family has a great time:
For those energiser bunnies who like to wake up early, head on down to the East Coast of the island to catch the sunrise. Cattle wash and Bathsheba are perfect beaches for a walk and collecting sea shells.
After working up an appetite at the beach, you can refuel and have your coffee fix at Flindt Patisserie in Holetown. They offer freshly baked goods, filtered coffee and tea and delicious daily specials.
The crystal clear, calm waters and shady relief from the sun makes Gibbs beach the perfect hang out spot before noon. The children can compete in a sandcastle competition or enjoy the many water sports facilities available.
Take a break from the beach and enjoy lunch at Mullin’s Beach bar. Their menu of fresh fish and local favourites is a hit amongst the children! Popular dishes include grilled mahi mahi and jerk chicken.
Set in a heavily wooded forest, the reserve is home to many tropical animals such as monkeys, deer and tortoises. A trip to the reserve is the perfect way to escape from the sun for a few hours. Be sure to make it there at feeding time (10 am and 2pm), when hundreds of animals crowd together and casually munch away, much to the delight of everyone watching!
What better way to finish off the day than to sip your favourite cocktail, while listening to the lapping of waves and watching the sun dip below the horizon? Lonestar is the perfect spot for a ‘sundowner’ while the kids splash around in the Caribbean Sea.
Whether you’re looking for casual dining at La Bouche, a stone baked pizza at Orange Street Grocer or local favourites at the Fish Pot, Speightstown is the place to be. After dinner, pop in to a local watering hole in Moon Town (further North) to join in on some karaoke.
